Happy Birthday Dick Morley, Father of the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)

December 1 is the birthday of Richard (Dick) Morley, who passed away on October 17, 2017, in New Hampshire. He is one of the people who have a profound impact on our lives, yet are generally unknown to the public. Dick Morley was a driving force behind the programmable logic controller, commonly referred to as a PLC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programmable_logic_controller). These handy units are the backbone of manufacturing and many types of control systems. Dick Morley was an original thinker and inspired many people. A short biography can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Morley.

Today, November 30, 2020, Ken Ball, Patricia Moody, and I joined host Llewellyn King to record an episode of The White House Chronicle (http://whchronicle.com/) dedicated to his memory. This episode will be available both here and on The White House Chronicle website on December 4. It will be broadcast on a variety of public broadcasting stations and the POTUS Channel on Sirius XM radio. For details, please see http://whchronicle.com/.

In addition, we are in the process of organizing a much more extensive program dedicated to Dick Morley and his many accomplishments to be held on December 16, 2020. Details on this extended program will be available soon on this website.
